Unreal Engine Plugin

Overview

Attention!

Some parts of the Wiki are different for UE versions 4.23-4.26 and version 4.27 and on. In general, if you're building your project on UE version 4.27+, you can follow the Wiki entries for versions 4.23-4.26; in case a section of the Wiki is different for version 4.27+,  this will be indicated at the top of the 4.23-4.26 page with a link to the respective page for version 4.27+.

This section of the wiki provides information on the COALA Plugin for Unreal Engine

Use the COALA Plugin for UE to easily create in-app maps with streets, buildings, rivers, etc. Get building information and information about restaurants & supermarkets. Create your own static or dynamic POIs, pitch and match location, weather, moon phases, and more. Define terrains on a grid basis. Access a skybox with real world weather conditions and moon phases. This plugin also provides for GPS mapping and other tools. Create a real world product with all the tech in place and responsible use of data rates.

Obtaining the Plugin and Pricing

You may purchase and download the Plugin from the UE Marketplace.

COALA Account and Projects

To effectively use the Plugin, you need a COALA account in our back-end server. The creation of an account is free of charge but each project you create in your account requires a monthly subscription. By default, each new project start in the Free Tier, which only allows for 1000 requests per month (See Requests section below for more information on what produces COALA requests). You can upgrade you plan at any point in the project's Configuration page. Find our full pricing on our webpage. Your subscription can be cancelled on a monthly basis, which will also deactivate the respective project. While a project is deactivated, you can still work on and modify it but you cannot request any data from it.

Monthly Requests Limit

Please note that each subscription plan in our Pricing includes a set number of COALA requests per month. A project in the Free Plan will not be able to do more than 1000 requests in a month. If your project is in a paid plan and it exceeds the number of included requests in a month, you will be charged a fee per request

Using the Plugin

This plugin includes an already functioning premade COALA project named "Paper Map". This example project is restricted in how many requests are handled from the server though. For unrestricted access to all server functions, you will need to create your own COALA project in the backend.

After registration and creation of a project, you will be provided with an API key. Implementing that in your project allows you to draw real-world data.

Preparations

Before you can start using COALA in your project, there are a couple of steps you have to follow.

COALA services are currently not available for Russia.
